VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) Bahaginan would like to invite you to an orientation session on international volunteering opportunities on May 30, 2009, Saturday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Conference Hall, Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Iloilo City.
VSO Bahaginan is a Filipino development organization that works to fight global poverty and disadvantage through volunteers. Based in Quezon City, VSO Bahaginan recruits, trains and sends experienced and committed professionals to work as volunteers in 35 developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. It is part of the international development organization called VSO.
The session is open to the public, but more specifically for professionals in the fields of management, business, education, health, IT, natural resources and community and social work. As this is an international assignment, we are looking to engage individuals with formal education and a minimum of three (3) years work experience in one particular field.
More than 400 Filipinos have volunteered with VSO Bahaginan and over 90% of those who’ve returned would recommend the experience to their family and friends. We would like to share with you this great opportunity to make a difference, to live and work in another country, to enhance your career and learn from others, to discover your potential and experience the most unforgettable two years of your life! At the session, you will learn:
• Who is VSO Bahaginan and what does it do?
• What does it take to become a VSO international volunteer?
• How do I become one?
• How will I be taken cared of as a VSO volunteer?
You’ll also hear first hand experience of volunteering overseas from a Filipino returned volunteer.

Two prolific men are behind VOICE in the Visayas Region. Both are very unassuming but they have achieved so much in terms of volunteering.
Prof. Gamala considers the Visayas area as his turf in VOICE. He is also the Vice President of VOICE National. At present, he teaches at University of the Philippines in the Visayas. He is very active in various volunteer projects and has even gone to Macedonia to do volunteer work through VSO.
VOICE Western Visayas, in the meantime, is under Prof. Edwin Lariza. Another untiring working who is also the Director of the Outreach Department of Central Philippine University. He is also a pastor and an NGO worker who holds the post of President of Iloilo Coalition of NGOs and POs. Furthermore, he is also with the WV Regional Development Council.
